Everyday I passed by Katipunan road going to work, I saw a lot of restaurants which I've been meaning to try and that includes Banapple. The main store is under renovation so the other branch right across the road which I assumed their bakery is currently serving main dishes until the construction is finished. [Update: The construction is finished and now serving]
Banapple started baking pies & cheesecakes years ago, initially for friends and family, and referred food establishments. shortly, banapple expanded its client base to include well known food establishments and restaurants, all being served from a home-based kitchen located in quezon city. the brand ‘banapple’ (banana + apple) was established, a contraction on the main ingredients of the banoffee pie and the apple caramel crumble pie, two of banapple’s early hits. banapple shortly thereafter transferred its main kitchen to a bigger and more accessible location along katipunan avenue in quezon city. banapple operates a cake showroom cum cafe at the facade of this kitchen.
Banapple pies & cheesecakes is a novel find in the metropolis. in addition to pies, cakes and cheesecakes, banapple serves yummy home-cooked style hot meals like the well-loved chicken parmigiano, lasagna roll-ups and hickory-smoked country ribs as well as sandwiches, pastas, and great pancakes. banapple has become a pleasant landmark, and commuters stop for a quick take out to and from work and school. bakers and waitstaff are friendly and offer fast and personalized service. great for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night snacks, anyone can enjoy yummy meals and excellent desserts alongside good coffee any time of the day :) Source
So last Saturday, my family and I finally had the chance and went there for a late lunch. The place is too small, though I couldn't complain since that particular branch only caters bread and pastries prior to the renovation. The seats were all occupied by the time we arrived so we have to wait for vacant seats while hubby ordered our food at the counter.

An all time favorite salad of mixed greens with bacon bits and parmesan made more scrumptious with pecan pralines

This is what I ordered. The taste was not that remarkable as I find their barbecue sauce just like an ordinary one from the grocery store. Meanwhile, the ribs were soft and tender which best paired with corn relish to neutralize the sweetness of the barbecue sauce.

When I asked hubby his verdict, he simply said: "Tastes just like chizza". Chizza is the newest variety of KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken). It is basically a chicken fillet on topped with pizza sauce and toppings. Surprisingly, he liked it.
And here's the exciting part. Wohooo!

Banoffee Pie P115 |
Okay, this is the reason why I've been meaning to try this restaurant. It's because of their famous banoffee pie! Isn't it enticing? *drools*
I rate this 8 out of 10. I love how the ingredients balanced the sweetness whereas you won't get fed off the taste. I also love the fresh banana comes with it. On the other hand, I think they went overboard on the whipped cream. As you can see, it almost has the same thickness as the thin crust and the banana layering. Too much of whipped cream looks unhealthy for my liking.
Overall, we were satisfied in what we ordered and had a wonderful time during our stay. We will definitely try their pasta dishes on our next visit.
